The Dance of Darkness and Light: Rebirth Your Leadership This Solstice

In the darkness, creation dances.

In the quiet embrace of the shadows, I can feel the restlessness of creation stirring. I long for the days under the summer sun as we approach the longest night of winter. Wrapping the world in its velvet shadows, the winter solstice invites us to pause, breathe in the crisp winter air, and step into the sacred stillness of the night.

Here, in the quiet embrace of the shadows, I can feel the restlessness of creation stirring. The ancients called this a time of rebirth—a threshold where time itself seems to stand still, marking the sun’s slow return and the promise of our birth into spring. Yet, before the dawn arrives, the darkness lingers a bit longer, dragging the morning on. It’s in this liminal space, in the arms of the longest night, that transformation plants its roots tight.

The Shadows We Fear

Darkness has been given a bad rap. It’s the place we fear the monsters linger under our beds or the boogie man wanders in the night. But darkness is a presence, a fertile ground where truth and potential intertwine. The Celts lit fires not to banish the dark but to honor its wisdom, while the Norse myths spoke of shadowy realms as sources of deep knowledge. These traditions teach us that the shadows we fear hold treasures we’ve yet to unearth. Ideas we’ve yet to create.

When is the last time you stepped outside and adjusted your eyes in the night? Connected to the cosmic sky and listened to that deep inner longing?

In leadership, the shadows are often doubts, hesitations, and limits—the stories we whisper to ourselves about what is difficult. Yet, these shadows are not obstacles to whine about and fear; they are invitations to grow. Within them lies the clarity and courage to lead with authenticity and purpose. And a reminder that what is held in the dark of the night—is a cosmic energy awaiting to be called forth into the light.

The 3Rd Eye Leadership™ framework embraces this ancient understanding. It teaches us to see the unseen, to lean into uncertainty, and to trust that what we avoid is often the gateway to transformation. Not just within ourselves, but in every sphere we influence and lead.

Darkness as the Cradle of Creation

Modern science tells us that dark matter—the unseen force shaping the universe—makes up the majority of existence. The same is true for our personal and professional lives. The unseen, unspoken, and unexamined often have the greatest impact. In the stillness of winter, the seeds of our greatest visions are germinating, waiting for us to nurture them.

The winter solstice asks us to trust the pause. To be willing to sit with the discomfort of not knowing. To listen to the whispers of what is calling forth to be birth through us. In this pause, creation takes its first breath. Through our willingness to integrate all that came before us into new visions.

Rebirth in the Leadership Journey

The winter solstice isn’t merely a turning point; it’s a moment of release and renewal. To step into the light, we must first honor the darkness. Reflect on what you’ve carried this year.

What has served you?
What has weighed you down?
What is still longing inside of you?

This is the time to let go of what no longer aligns with your vision and integrate who you are.

As leaders, rebirth requires us to embody the duality of shadow and light. To acknowledge our fears and doubts—our limitations and boundaries—while moving forward with clarity, intention, and purpose. 3Rd Eye Leadership™ teaches us that transformation doesn’t come from avoiding our shadows but from integrating them. In doing so, we unlock the fullness of our potential. Truly stepping into the light requires the faith that something more powerful will emerge.

Practical Steps for Solstice Renewal

These rituals blend the practical with the symbolic, offering a way to deeply honor the solstice and rebirth your leadership with intention.

  1. Reflect in Stillness: Set aside sacred time for introspection and quiet contemplation. Light a candle in a quiet space and journal on these prompts: What limits or beliefs have been holding your leadership back? What is longing to emerge within you? Feel the stillness and listen to the whispers of your inner voice.

  2. Release with Intention Let go of what no longer serves. Write down fears, doubts, or outdated patterns on a piece of paper. Safely burn it, imagining the smoke carrying them away. Imagine the smoke carrying them away, leaving space for the new visions.

  3. Set Your Vision for the Light Speak aloud or write down your intention for this next chapter of your leadership. Not just goals, but a declaration of who you will be and how you will lead. Light a new candle to represent this new light.

  4. Invite Collaborative Co-Creation Share your vision with those who inspire you. Leadership thrives in connection, and the solstice reminds us of the power of shared light. When we bring our energetic resonance together, we truly can shift paradigms.

Your Shadows Are Here to Dance

The solstice is a sacred reminder that shadow and light dance in partnership, not adversaries. Together, they create depth, vibrancy, and the energy of renewal. As you step into this season of reflection and rebirth, honor them both. Tune your eyes to the dark, and be amazed at the light you see. Let your shadows guide you to what is waiting to be created through you. Let your light lead and your vision illuminate the path forward.

In the stillness of the longest night, creation stirs.

It’s calling you to pause, to trust, and to lead—with energetic resonance of your soul.

This is your solstice.

This is your time.

How will you rebirth a new paradigm?
